Complete your Bachelor's degree in Nursing and advance your career

For those who are planning to practice nursing in the state of Idaho, it would be a great benefit to hold a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing. Since there is a shortage of nurses with advanced degrees at this particular time, acquiring a BSN degree could secure immediate promotions, especially to nurse manager positions. Degree programs are widely available, and can be earned online as well as in a classroom situation. Some schools also offer accelerated or fast-track programs.

There are four Idaho colleges that offer CCNE accredited campus based RN to BSN nursing degree programs. Boise State University has a total enrollment of 19,000 students and enjoys full accreditation. Their stated tuition rate for Idaho residents is $4,632 per academic year. Besides the RN to BSN degree, they also offer ADN, BS/BSN, LPN and MSN nursing programs. Idaho State University Department of Nursing in Pocatello is another Idaho school that offers several nursing degrees including BS/BSN, Accelerated BSN, MSN, Nurse Practitioner and RN-BSN. ISU is also an accredited school with an enrollment of 11,800. Tuition prices vary according to the courses that are taken.

Schools in Lewiston and Nampa also offer RN to BSN courses, as well as other nursing degrees. The Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston Idaho is an accredited institution with an enrollment of 2,700 and a tuition of $4,296. The Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa has a tuition of $21,170, but does not currently hold national accreditation for its RN-BSN program. The Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg has a well-known RN to BSN Program with classes starting every semester, and can be completed on campus or online. The campus tuition is $1735 per semester for LDS students and $3470 for non-LDS students.

An advanced degree in nursing can be very valuable, enhancing nursing knowledge, expanding employment opportunities, increasing responsibility for reaching personal and professional goals and providing needed skills for organizing and directing health care groups within a health care community. RNs who hold a BSN degree will be in a strong position to be able to take full advantage of the available opportunities.
